Discover Tenerife's last volcano on a guided excursion to the Chinyero volcano in El Tanque!
Tenerife is the island not to be missed in the Canary Islands if you are a nature lover and can't decide between beach or mountain. As well as swimming at Las Teresitas beach, strolling along the black sand beach of Playa de Las Gaviotas and climbing the Teide, why not do something more original? Outdoor Activities offers you an excursion to the Chinyero volcano in El Tanque, the last volcano on the island of Tenerife!
In 1909 the 1500m high Chinyero volcano erupted in the Chinyero Special Nature Reserve. Now you can climb to the top of the Chinyero volcano on a circular route of 6 kilometres and 170 metres of elevation gain. You will meet the Outdoors Tenerife guides at the Mirador de Los Poleos. From there you will start the route towards the volcano through the Canary pine forests until you reach the top of the volcano, from where you will see the lava flows and incredible views of Teide and Pico Viejo. From there you will start the descent through one of the most impressive stages of the route: walking on the long solidified lava flows! All in all, a 3 - 4 hour excursion in which you will admire volcanic landscapes and views of Tenerife that will leave you speechless. For this circular hike to the volcano Chinyero you don't need a lot of hiking experience, you just need to be a bit fit.
