La Palma, also known as La Isla Bonita, is part of the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife together with Tenerife, La Gomera and El Hierro. This island is the result of volcanic activity and is the youngest of the Canary Islands with El Hierro.
In 2021 took place the last volcanic eruption of the island, resulting in the Tajogaite volcano, in the municipality of El Paso near the Montaña Rajada, hence its name. This volcano has a height of 1 120 meters and has a main cone of 200 meters and 6 other smaller craters. Now you can discover this volcanic formation in a totally safe way. La Palma Natural offers you a 5 kilometers route (3 hours) of low difficulty. You will meet your guide at the tourist information office in El Paso, who will explain the excursion to you. From there, you will take a cab (included in the price of the excursion) to the starting point, in Llano del Jable, about 10 minutes from El Paso and with restricted access.
For an hour and a half you will walk through ash and lapilli while the guide explains the consequences of this eruption for the vegetation, the great regeneration capacity of the Canary peak as well as the volcanic activity of La Palma and the Canary Islands. In addition, near the crater you will be able to see the lava flow that affected the Aridane Valley. After reaching the crater you will follow the circular route back to the starting point, to take the cab again and return to the Tourist Information Office in El Paso.

Gas emissions are constantly monitored, in case of a higher level than allowed, the excursion will be cancelled and the date or time may be changed depending on availability.
It is forbidden to pick up volcanic ash or stones.
