Discover ice climbing in Montreal, on Île Sainte-Hélène in the heart of the city on the St. Lawrence River!
Ice climbing is one of the ultimate winter activities for experiencing new sensations during the Quebec winter. La liberté Nord Sud welcomes you to the training wall at Parc Jean-Drapeau on Île Sainte-Hélène, a stone's throw from La Ronde, for an introduction to the incredible winter sport of ice climbing in Montreal.
During this half-day session, your instructor will introduce you to ice climbing and the equipment before teaching you belay techniques, basic descents and how to move around on the ice. Then, after a review of communication and safety instructions, you will be able to start climbing on a school wall under the supervision and guidance of your instructor.
The Montreal Icefall is a semi-artificial waterfall maintained by a team of enthusiasts. It is between 8 and 12 metres high, which is already very impressive, and is classified between grades 3 and 4. These grades are perfect for beginners to learn the basics of ice climbing in Montreal, and even to progress!
Whether you already have some climbing experience or not, take the metro to Île Sainte-Hélène and come and discover ice climbing at Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal!
