Thanks to this activity combining canoeing or kayaking and hiking, you will have the chance to admire the Assomption River's surroundings from many different viewpoints. The planned route allows everyone to discover and live an outdoor experience à la Québécoise with 5 kilometres of hiking and 6 kilometres of canoeing or kayaking.
You will start with a 5 km beginner-intermediate hike on one of the most beautiful sections of the National Trail, the Swaggin Falls area. You'll walk through mixed forest along the Swaggin River and see some impressive waterfalls and cascades. The perfect place for a lunch break!
Afterwards, you'll head to the Au Canot Volant base for the canoeing or kayaking part of the Assomption River! The section of river you will be paddling on has translucent water and is ideal for families, groups of friends, couples and solitary people wanting to enjoy a moment out of time in the middle of nature. Don't hesitate to stop on the shore to get in the water or simply relax under the Quebec sun!

Practical information
Kayaks are single-seater boats and canoes are double-seater boats.
- Arrival at Le Canot Volant 45 minutes before departure;
- Welcome and documents to be completed;
- Checking of personal equipment and collection of nautical equipment for the river section;
- Distribution of equipment and explanation of the activity;
- Boarding the bus;
- Arrival at the trailhead;
- Safety instructions, no-trace practices;
- Hike and picnic along the trail;
- Arrival at the boat launch;
- Change equipment, instructions and launch;
- Canoeing or kayaking down the river;
- Arrival at the Flying Canoe;
- Return of equipment.
All participants must complete a risk acceptance form and answer a few health questions. Au Canot Volant reserves the right to prohibit some participants from making one or more runs.
The maximum weight per person is 102 kilos.
The activity takes place even if the weather forecast calls for rain. However, Au Canot Volant will cancel the outing in case of severe thunderstorms, strong winds or for other weather reasons.
