Get to know the more than 200 km of São Miguel Island's coastline and the whimsical rock formations that the sea has sculpted over the centuries. Do not miss the opportunity to discover the Islet of Vila Franca do Campo, which is categorized as a protected area and is known by the name of Anel da Princesa "Princess Ring".

Take advantage of the incredible exercise of sea kayaking, so you can get closer to nature in its greatest splendor. You don't need previous experience, you just need to feel comfortable in the water and the instructors will teach you and accompany you so that you paddle correctly and safely.

There are 7 different paddling routes, two in inland volcanic lakes, each with a different perspective of São Miguel, but where you will have fun and learn the most amazing stories and legends of this place. The itinerary will be decided taking into account the weather conditions, your skills and according to your interests and preferences.

The adventure will start at the Vila Franca do Campo Marina, where you will enjoy the main tourist attractions of São Miguel Island and the islet of Vila Franca do Campo. Afterwards, we will proceed with the distribution of the equipment and a safety briefing.

Practical information

Vila Franca do Campo where you can explore the outside of the small islet of Vila Franca, you can admire some volcanic lakes representative of this region.

Distance: 4.5km

The price varies depending on whether you choose to include pick-up.

Activity requirements

- Normal physical fitness is recommended.
- Knowing how to swim and feeling comfortable in the water is advisable, as this excursion takes place in open waters of the ocean.
- No previous experience is required.
- Children are the responsibility of an adult.
- This activity is not recommended for individuals with back problems. Please inform us of any previous injuries, medical conditions, or health issues at the time of booking.
- This activity is not recommended for pregnant women, as sea conditions can be variable. Please contact us before booking.
- The safety of our clients is one of our priorities, as this activity is dependent on sea and weather conditions and may be canceled or rescheduled.

Special terms

Pick-up will be at or near your accommodation. When the activity is over, we will drop you off again at the same place. Consider this for the city of Ponta Delgada (for others, please contact us). High season (June – September) – pick-up and drop-off service is not available. Low season ( October – May ) – between 8:00 and 8:20 in the morning

We went sea kayaking around Villa Franca de Campo. We paddled about 5km to the island, where we snorkeled. There were so many amazing and colorful fish out there. The ocean was a bit rough that day so it was definitely a workout and fairly intense at times. But a wonderful experience and such a cool way to experience the island.
