For adventurous outdoor enthusiasts, this white water rafting tour on the Enns River in Gesäuse National Park is a must!
Located in Austria’s south-eastern region of Styria, famous for its bucolic landscape and rich folk-culture, is the breathtaking Gesäuse National Park. Gesäuse National Park, with its soaring mountains and lush woodland, is particularly known for its wild water and steep cliffs, and it has one of the most impressive river gorges in the Eastern Alps. It is amidst this awe inspiring environment that you will embark on an incredible white water rafting adventure on the Enns River!
To begin your white water rafting experience in Gesäuse National Park, you will meet your experienced and certified guides at the BAC (Best Adventure Company) activity base. From there you will receive a safety and activity briefing to make sure you will be confident out on the water. Then, you will be taken to the raft launch site and equipped with helmets, life vests, wetsuits, and neoprene booties to make sure you are safe and warm during the rafting. After all that, it will finally be time to begin your white water rafting adventure on the Enns River in Gesäuse National Park!
Over a distance of approximately 12 km, dotted with significant stretches of wild rapids, you will leave your regular life behind and wake up to a beautiful natural environment around you. During the calmer sections of the Enns River, you will be able to drink in the impressive views of the Gesäuse mountains in front of you and the steep cliffs on either side of the river. Once you hit the rapids however, you will be working in unison with your group of fellow rafters to maneuver through high-intensity whitewater segments while adeptly avoiding obstructions, all in all making for a super fun challenge!
The best time for experienced rafters to test their mettle against the Enns is the springtime, right after the snowmelt brings lots of water into the river. On the other hand, the usually lower water level in summer or autumn gives those who want to try out rafting a fantastic introduction to this wonderful activity.
