After putting in the equipment and getting some instructions, you start the tour at the bottom of a long snowy road winding up the side of the mountain, with an increasingly great view on the lakes; for us, one was frozen and the other ice-free, which made for a great contrast.

On the return, you don't have to walk down the road again, instead you can use some sleds to slide down the whole way - both fun and less tedious!
The hike is spectacular. The fall colors were breathtaking. There were still blueberries to snack on. Splitting the hike made it so much more pleasurable, and the campsite was comfortable and cozy.
