Take part in a PADI Advanced Open Water course in Santorini and become a professional scuba diver!
Take part in a PADI Advanced Open Water course in Santorini and become a professional scuba diver! This course is for those who have already obtained their Open Water Diver certification.
Santorini is a stunning Greek island located in the southern Aegean Sea. The island was shaped by a massive volcanic eruption in the 16th century BC, which created its unique crescent shape and dramatic cliffs. This course takes place in Akrotiri, an archaeological site which offers unique opportunities to explore the underwater landscape and volcanic caldera of Santorini.
To start your course, you'll meet the certified instructor at the dive centre in Akrotiri. The Advanced Open Water Diver certificate is accessible only to people who already have their Open Water certificate. This course allows you to go further on your diving journey, and the PADI certificate you will acquire will qualify you to dive to a maximum depth of 30 metres (100 feet) anywhere in the world.
The Advanced Open Water course consists of 5 speciality dives. Some technical dives are compulsory for the completion of the course, such as the deep dive and the navigation dive. Then, you will be free to select 3 more technical dives from the following: peak performance buoyancy, wreck diving, underwater naturalist, boat diving, fish identification, and night diving. The coast of Santorini offers plenty of incredible spots to complete these dives, and your instructor will help you make an informed decision about which dives you would like to complete.
After going through the theory, you'll receive the scuba diving equipment (fins, mask, wetsuit, regulators, tank and weights). You'll travel to one of the unique dive sites on the island, and practice some skills in the water, including practical aspects and physiological effects of deep diving, how to use your underwater compass, how to navigate using kick-cycles, and how to better use your dive computer and electronic recreational dive planner.
Santorini is an ideal location for scuba diving, due to its clear waters and fascinating dive sites. The marine life here is diverse and colourful, you're likely to encounter vibrant fish, turtles and even dolphins! The volcanic architecture of the seabed is also very interesting to explore, with unique underwater rock formations, caves and walls. At the end of the course, you will be awarded your PADI Advanced Open Water Certificate at the dive centre in Akrotiri, allowing you to dive to a maximum depth of 30m / 100ft anywhere in the world!
