BB Douro was set-up in 2012 as a joint Sailing Academy and maritime-tourism operator in northern Portugal.
Whether you wish to explore the region in style on one of their Beneteau First 47.7 vessels, or refine your sailing skills and techniques on the smaller and more nimble Beneteau 25 boats, BB Douro has something for everyone.
Boasting an impressive fleet of 35 vessels, including 13 sailing boats, they have become internationally recognised as leaders in sailing tuition. Their tours take place along the Douro river in and around Porto, the second largest city in Portugal.
The Douro river passes through Porto at its most easterly point, passing through the Vila Nova de Gaia region before flowing into the Atlantic Ocean. This region is renowned for its vineyards and fortified wine production. There are many distilleries and cellars to mature the wines, one of Portugal’s most successful exports. BB Douro incorporates the region’s rich history of winemaking into their tours, with stops at Caves Ferriera and Port Wine.
All of the guides at BB Douro are fully qualified skippers with years of sailing experience. They will teach you how to read winds, key terminology, boat safety and the most important aspect of any adventure – to have fun!
In 2014 the team created BB Douro for ALL, a project aimed at children with disadvantaged backgrounds who otherwise wouldn’t get the opportunity to practice sailing. This non-profit project has been developed alongside the Vela Solidaria and Vela sem Barreiras charities.
